Nurburgring again

Looks like I'm addicted to the Nurburgring. Took half a day off work and went down to the Eifel again. The second time within 5 days! I just needed to do a lap on the Nordschleife. And so I did. First time out in the BMW on a quiet track. Just amazing, better than any rollercoaster in the world. The many (many many) virtual laps on the playstation paid off now. The game is very realistic. It gave me the knowledge on what's coming on behind the next blind spot. It's just great fun, can't wait to do a lap in the GT6.

A day at the ring

Last weekend we spend some time at the Nurburgring. Watching other people trashing their cars around the Nordschleife is always good fun. All different cars are seen on the track from a 25 year old Opel Kadett to latest Audi RS4..... and everything in between. No Triumphs though. Hope to get my GT6 out on it this year, as soon as it runs okay on Webers. Before I will do my first attempt in my BMW. A shame really, only 175km away from the Ring and I've never done a lap. On the picture you see Sabine Schmitz in the Ringtaxi. What a experience that will be as a passenger. She drives that M5 really agressive and quick around the track.

After a loads of modifications to the car (a lot more then expected) I finally got them Webers fitted. The conversion involved changes to the heating system, relocating brakepipes and cutting a piece out of the bulkhead. I've fitted a Spitfire heatervalve on the bulkhead as the GT6 originally has one fitted to the manifold. A homemade bracket has been used for attaching the acceleratorcable. Chokecable is only connected to two of the carbs. this seems to work okay. Unfortunately the Webers are setup wrong. It runs and sounds great though the car won't pull under load, which means mixture is very poor. This might be caused by slightly too large chokes. I've got 33's now, but I recon 28's will do the trick. Will get an answer soon from a Dutch weber guru and also Triumph lover. (they race a Dolomite Sprint). All this means we can't take the GT6 out on our UK trip in two weeks. Which is sad news, as I really was looking forward driving my Triumph this holiday. Now we have to take the BMW. Luckily it has 170BHP and rearwheeldrive!!!!!!!!!

New computer

Finally I've got my new computer which means I can update my blog again. The saga continues with the triple weber conversion of my GT6 which is almost finished by now. (but not quite)
