Look what I've found in the shed

It's a brand new engine for my GT6! This has been lying around in my parents garage for too long. Last weekend it was time to release them from the last bit of Triumph. A rather heavy bit as some might know. Luckily the engine is in bits which makes it easier to carry around. I bought this engine a couple of years ago from a chap in England who used to race a GT6. He prepared this engine to fit his racer, only due to family commitments it never happened, The block has been prepared to a high standard and comes with a brand new crankshaft, camshaft and pistons. The cylinderhead has been ported and fitted with new valves and springs. Plan is to EFI the GT6 by using PI throttle bodies on a single throttle. First I will put the block together, which is a nice start to the full rebuild of my GT6.

The spaghetti incident

Something that annoyed me since the first day I own the PI is the bodged up electrics by Mr P.O. He did some rewiring on the car and decided it would be clever to use only one colour of wire. YELLOW! To make it all look a bit more fancy he finished it off with some rather tasty (kinky?) red plastic tubing. Time to rip this spaghetti out and start all over again.

First I had to repair some bits of the original loom at the alternator, coil and temp switch. Then I took all the yellow wiring out. I even found some loose bits hanging around behind the dash, not being connected. Also got rid of some scotch locks. Why on earth do people use these?? Today I made up a new loom for the gauges in the centre console. Tomorrow I'll have to finish it off and hopefully all works again. Fingers crossed!

Le garage!

During the last winter period I managed to sort out my workshop a bit. Most important change is the extension from the loft, now being a full floor. This means I've got some extra space to stuff more Triumph bits, but another benefit is that I can warm up the lower floor of the workshop without all the heat ending up in the top of the roof. It's all nice and cosy now! Also new electrics have been made. Plenty of soccets and lights have been added. Finally most tools found a new position at the wall. Much better than searching for hours in various toolboxes. Must say I'm quite pleased with the results. Time to get back to the cars soon!
